Shaping Body, Mind, and Spirit
February 15, 2025   |   Kannada Medium School , NITK Surathkal
Activities such as karate, outdoor games, singing, and assembly gatherings conducted by volunteers Dhruva and Aishwarya played an important role in the overall development of students from the Kannada medium school supported by SENA Foundation. These activities helped students grow physically, emotionally, and socially, while also strengthening values like discipline, teamwork, and confidence. Karate sessions helped students build physical strength and self discipline. Many Kannada medium students were experiencing structured physical training for the first time. Through regular practice, they learned focus, respect, and self control. Karate also improved their confidence and made them feel more secure and courageous. Students understood the importance of consistency and hard work, which positively influenced their behaviour both inside and outside the classroom. Outdoor games brought joy and active participation among students. These games encouraged teamwork, cooperation, and healthy competition. Kannada medium students learned how to follow rules, support each other, and accept success and failure with a positive attitude. Outdoor activities helped reduce stress and improved physical fitness, while also creating a friendly and inclusive environment where students felt free to express themselves. Singing activities provided students with an opportunity to express emotions and build confidence. Group singing helped overcome stage fear and hesitation, especially for students who were shy or unsure of themselves. Singing improved their pronunciation, listening skills, and rhythm, while also creating a sense of unity among students. Many children discovered their interest in music and felt proud to perform in front of their peers. Assembly gatherings conducted by Dhruva and Aishwarya gave students a disciplined and positive start to the day. These gatherings included prayers, motivational talks, songs, and simple value based messages. Students learned the importance of punctuality, respect, and unity. Assemblies also helped in developing leadership qualities and public speaking confidence among students. The volunteers Dhruva and Aishwarya also benefited from these activities. By working closely with Kannada medium students, they developed patience, leadership, and communication skills. Organizing and guiding these sessions helped them understand grassroots education and the impact of value based learning. Seeing the confidence and happiness in students gave them a deep sense of satisfaction and strengthened their commitment to social service. Through these combined activities, SENA Foundation successfully promoted holistic education. Kannada medium students gained confidence, discipline, and joy in learning, while volunteers grew into responsible and compassionate individuals dedicated to shaping young lives through education and values.
